The pasture has held donkeys since 1934, when the Bol family owned the land, and volunteer handlers walk them through the neighbourhood and take them to parades. Perry, a miniature donkey who lived there from 1997, was the real-life model for Donkey in the 2001 film Shrek.
Perry died in January 2025 at the age of 30. Buddy and April live in the pasture today.
