Floats, school bands and neighbourhood groups march down University Avenue to Heritage Park, where the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto hosts a fair. Anyone can walk in the parade with the city’s Friends, Family and Pets group.
Accounts of its start differ: one student paper says it has run every May since 1920, another that it began in 1924, and the parade of 2024 was celebrated as the 100th.
