Matadero Creek

The creek that runs through the middle of Palo Alto, past Bol Park and the donkey pasture, to the Baylands flood basin.

Matadero Creek rises in the foothills and flows north through Barron Park, past Bol Park, and under El Camino Real and the railroad to the Palo Alto Flood Basin. Arastradero Creek is one of its tributaries.

It once had runs of steelhead trout, and it still has perennial flow for several miles above Bol Park.
